KERRY DENINO

Scioto Valley Chorus Musical Director

Kerry Denino is a charter member of SVC, which officially chartered in 1988. She has been surrounded by ringing chords since early childhood. At the age of 13 she was harmonizing with her mom, Char Gurney, cultivating her own love of barbershop harmony. In addition to being a leader in SVC, Kerry has sung in many quartets over the years, winning many regional quartet contests along with International top ten placements with “Success Express” quartet. In 2006, Kerry became a Queen of Harmony (Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champion) with “Spotlight” quartet. In 2024, Kerry’s quartet, Lady A Cappella, also became Queen’s of Harmony!

Kerry brings a wealth of talent, experience, and vision to our rehearsals and chorus culture. Kerry began directing the chorus alongside her mother in the early 2000’s and her direction has helped to propel the chorus to many top ten chorus finishes at Sweet Adelines International Chorus Competitions. In 2013 she achieved the status of Master Director-700, which is a high honor for directors in the SAI organization.

In addition to her “day job”, and her continued work with her quartet, Kerry also coaches many choruses and quartets. She is married to Steve Denino, the CEO of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and her two sons are avid music lovers.
