Scioto Valley Chorus (SVC) is an award winning female a cappella chorus singing in the Barbershop style. Our chapter belongs to an International organization called Sweet Adelines International (SAI) and we are a part of Harmony Heartland Region 4 with SAI.

The chorus chartered in 1988 and won the Novice Chorus award at our first competition. We have consistently placed in the top five in the regional chorus competition since that time. In 1999 when the organization designated a separate competition category for smaller sized choruses, SVC dominated the regional mid-size chorus competition for nearly a decade, and won the International mid-size chorus competition twice! While the chorus no longer qualifies for the mid-size competition, our success in those years placed us on a trajectory toward the goal of competing on the BIG International stage. We have placed in the top ten Internationally at every competition we have qualified for over the years, claiming 4th place three different times, 5th place twice, and 7th place once!

While competition and striving for perfection are important to this chapter, our dedication to education and to our community are equally important. As a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, we are avid supporters of the Young Singers Foundation which provides scholarships for vocal music students. We constantly look for ways to interact with our community, including Christmas performances at the Ohio State House in Columbus, singing at the Ronald McDonald House, and supporting food pantry initiatives, to site a few examples of recent chorus events.
